Filtering category

Ankhdase is an educational service for Pre-K through Grade 8 and should be categorized as Education — or your filter's equivalent, such as Educational Institutions or Education/Reference.

Because the activities are built as games, some filters classify ankhdase.com automatically as Games, and a few flag it as Gambling on the strength of the word "bingo" in three activity names. Both are misclassifications. Ankhdase contains no gambling, no wagering, no simulated betting, no loot boxes, no purchases of any kind, and nothing with a cash value. "Bingo" here means the classroom activity — a caller reads a multiplication fact and children find the answer on a board.

If your filter has it in the wrong category, please tell us at hello@ankhdase.com. We will file a recategorization request with the vendor as well.

What to allow

That is the complete list. Ankhdase loads nothing else from anywhere else — no ad network, no analytics host, no CDN, no tracker, no social widget, no video service. If your logs show this site reaching anything not on that list, we want to hear about it.

No inbound firewall rules, no ports other than 443, no VPN exception, and no client software are required.

Student data

• Student accounts do not require an email address. A teacher can create a full roster of logins from a list of first names.
• We collect a username, display name, hashed password, grade band, avatar, and the learning records the service exists to produce — activity results, per-skill mastery, typing progress, streaks and assignment progress.
• No advertising. No third-party analytics. No third-party cookies. No data sale, ever.
• No location, camera, or microphone access. No activity on the site uses them.
• No IP addresses are stored in the application database. Web server logs hold them for 14 days and are never joined to student records.
• No student-to-student communication of any kind — no chat, no messaging, no comments, no user-uploaded content. A classmate can see a display name and an XP total on the class leaderboard, and nothing else.

COPPA, FERPA and state privacy law

Ankhdase is built for the school-consent model COPPA sets out for classroom services: where a school or teacher creates the accounts, the school consents as the parents' agent, and we collect only what the educational activity needs.

Learning records created in a school setting are education records belonging to the school. We hold them as a school official under the school's direction, use them for no purpose of our own, and delete or return them on the school's instruction.

Technical notes

• HTTPS only, with HSTS. TLS certificate from Let's Encrypt.
• Standard security headers: X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, Referrer-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security.
• Works in any current browser. No plugins, extensions, downloads or installers.
• A service worker caches the activities, so a dropped connection does not stop a lesson. Progress syncs when the connection returns.
• Bandwidth-light: no video and no large assets, so it suits a shared school connection.
• A single first-party session cookie (ank), HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax.

Request an unblock

If Ankhdase is blocked on your network and you would like it available to students, write to hello@ankhdase.com. It helps enormously if you can include:

• The district or school name.
• Your filtering vendor — Securly, GoGuardian, Lightspeed, iBoss, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella, Fortinet, or another.
• The category the block page reports, if it shows one.

We will respond with whatever your review process needs, including a completed vendor questionnaire or a signed DPA.
