Calm Corner
Breathe, and come back to the room
About Calm Corner
Guided box breathing, a long out-breath pattern, and 5-4-3-2-1 grounding. No score, no timer, no way to get it wrong — the one place on Ankhdase that does not keep count.
Ankhdase tracks 2 distinct skills in Calm Corner, including Calming the body and Holding attention. Because mastery is estimated per skill rather than per game, the questions shift toward whatever a student is getting wrong — and away from what they have already proved they know.
How to play
- Follow the circle: it grows while you breathe in and shrinks while you breathe out.
- Box breathing holds for a count at the top and bottom; Long out-breath makes breathing out slower than breathing in, which is the part that settles you.
- 5-4-3-2-1 grounding walks you through your senses when your thoughts are racing.
- There is no score and no timer here. If you lose the rhythm, just join back in.
Skills Calm Corner practices
- Calming the body
- Holding attention
Mastery is estimated separately for each of these, which is what lets the difficulty move independently — a student can be fluent on one and still be fed easier questions on another.
